We're under way! Riding the 2013 Tour de Force

Intro – what, why, where, when (and see daily posts on each Stage down and to the right)

According to the latest research, I’m at the absolute prime age for a mid-life crisis.  So, I’m embracing it wholeheartedly.  In 2013: I will be 50; it will be the 100th edition of the Tour de France; the current winner is SirBrad (as if you need reminding) and the 2013 winner could well be another Brit, Chris Froome.

So (obviously) I will be riding the entire route of the Tour de France.  2,200 miles (3,360 km) in 3 weeks.  Starting – and finishing – exactly one week ahead of the professional teams.

On 22nd June 2013, I will, set off as one of 30 “lifers” (people riding the entire route) and some 50 others riding a smaller number of stages, from Porto-Vecchio, Corsica on km1 of the 220ish kms of Stage 1, and finish, three weeks later, on Bastille day 14th July in Paris.

I’m raising money for the William Wates Memorial Trust, who help the most disadvantaged young people by giving grants to charities that engage young people through sport, arts and education.  Please reward my pain by giving generously, through the bmycharity link.

Thanks for reading, and I hope as you read further about what I’m doing and why, that you feel willing to donate a little something towards the fantastic charity I am raising money for, the William Wates Memorial Trust.  Again, the link is on the right.  Thanks

  1. How do I sponsor you, mate? The link just seems to go to a general donation page?

  2. hi , if you click on the bmycharity logo it should take you to a page that says “hello and welcome from andy jennings” – and that’s the page you need – put a figure in the “make a donation” box and follow the subsequent instructions, and – hey presto – job done, donation made. Thanks! If for any reason this doesn’t work, please do let me know. Andy

    • Hello Andy
are you doing any rides for a charity this year?
we would sponsor you if you are doing so.
      Hope you are well
      Best wishes
      Anne & Tony

      • hi there, great to hear from you. Hope you are both well. I am not planning on any fundraising rides for this year (a bit of a year off, compared to last year!) but will let you know via this site of future plans for 2016! thanks again for getting in touch and your kind offer. Andy
